We recently published our new global five year strategy that sets out the direction for the future.

March 2021

Welcome to the monthly volunteer update for March

Despite much of the parkrun world still being paused, this month will have seen over 20,000 volunteering instances in the countries where we have reopened. We are grateful for all volunteers continuing to follow the COVID-19 Framework, helping to keep events safe and demonstrating to authorities that we take our responsibilities seriously in these challenging times.

As always, please have a look around the Volunteer Hub, where you’ll find all that you need to know about volunteering at parkrun.

Volunteer milestone t-shirts
You may well have seen the recent announcement about the changes being made to milestone t-shirts, including the new additions to both the volunteer clubs and the walking / running clubs.

You can read all the detailed information about the changes here.

A fresh start

As we gradually reopen parkrun events around the world, it’s a great chance to create good habits and start as we mean to go on. So whether it’s cleaning out the parkrun kit bag or encouraging people to join their local volunteer team, this moment provides an opportunity for a fresh start.

Many events will also be on a recruitment drive to attract new volunteers and perhaps new Run Directors for their events, so why not take the chance to step up and become a high-vis hero for your local event?! Look out for posts on social media, or you can always email your local event - contact details are available on each parkrun website.

Thanks for reading, we will be back again at the end of April. Until then, wherever you are in the world, stay safe, keep active, and if you’re close to a parkrun event that’s open - see you at the weekend.
