We recently published our new global five year strategy that sets out the direction for the future.

September 2020

Virtual Volunteer

As outlined in our COVID-19 Framework, upon reopening of events, all timing and scanning will be carried out using the parkrun Virtual Volunteer mobile application.

We are now pleased to announce the launch of the latest version with exciting new features:

  • Simply send results via customised/event specific QR code
  • Store volunteer’s parkrun Id for automatic volunteer credit

Easy to Send

We have introduced a very easy way to send results to the event. Volunteers who have timed or scanned on their own device simply scan a unique QR code provided by the Run Director then they are sent straight into the processing system. At the same time, volunteers sending results will automatically be given a volunteer credit.

Get Virtual Volunteer

Virtual Volunteer is available on the Apple Store and Google Play Store and can be installed by scanning the QR below.

There is a full user guide available on the Volunteer Hub.

Volunteering

When events reopen under the COVID-19 Framework, the number of volunteer scanners should be significantly increased (we recommend that events aim for around one scanner per 50 finishers) such that the finish area can be cleared as soon as possible. Download Virtual Volunteer, have a play with it, and volunteer at your local parkrun. You can even start scanning once you have crossed the line. Please contact your local parkrun before the event to volunteer.

IT Support

In order to provide greater support to volunteers processing results, we have enhanced our support through our online chat system. When processing results via the results processing system you can now click the chat icon for real-time access to our support team.
